(Photo by John Minchill/AP) In an interview with ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Jan., 9, 2017 , comedian David Letterman said his upcoming book “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” will address the rise of the “alt-right.”

Letterman, who has spoken out about his experience hosting Trump in the 2016 presidential election, said the book will focus on “how people get into this new world of nationalism and white supremacy, the alt-right,” the term coined to describe white supremacists.

The comedian has also expressed a willingness to engage with those who disagree with him, and he recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the ” alt- right .”

Letterman told the publication that the “Alt-Right is the new alt-left.”

The comedian also spoke about how he will use the book to speak out against those who “troll” him on social media, but did not elaborate on what the trolling will entail.
